Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Statement for the BATF

At the British Allied Trades Federation (BATF), we are committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of our work. We believe that a diverse and inclusive workforce not only reflects the associations, businesses, and members we serve but also fosters innovation, success, and prosperity for all.

Our approach to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) is guided by three core objectives:

  1. Building a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects and understands the associations, businesses, and members we serve.
  2. Ensuring all colleagues are valued and empowered to contribute to our success.
  3. Empowering and enabling all colleagues to thrive and prosper, ensuring their skills and perspectives are fully embraced.

A common thread through all our work is the ongoing commitment to tackling bias, promoting equality, and embedding an inclusive culture across our organisation. We challenge ourselves to continually improve by setting meaningful targets to increase diversity and inclusivity at every level, including senior leadership.

In line with our legal duty as a federated body, we are dedicated to promoting equality of opportunity, eliminating unlawful discrimination, and fostering good relations between individuals who share protected characteristics and those who do not. These protected characteristics include age, disability, sex, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, pregnancy, and maternity.

At the BATF, we are determined to go beyond meeting statutory obligations by creating an environment where every colleague feels valued, respected, and empowered to achieve their full potential. We understand that embracing diversity and building an inclusive culture is essential to our success, and we are committed to making this vision a reality.
