BATF Silver Collection Competition

The British Allied Trades Federation (BATF) and The National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) are searching for an interesting piece, to sit alongside others important silverware items collected over many years by the Federation. The winning design will be bought for the Jewellery & Giftware Silver Collection curated by the BATF from silverware made by great UK designermakers, manufacturers or silversmiths.


To design and make a piece of Sterling silverware either functional or decrative to commemorate the end of the First World War taking that ceasefire as inspiration.

Note If the silversmith prefers Britannia silver may also be used and the design can incorporate other metals, embelishments and mix media.


Any UK company designing and making in the UK may apply

The piece of silver is to be create in the designer silversmiths own style and design-to-scale drawings or CAD files are to be donated to the BATF.

It may incorporate mix media and metals as well as enamel, stones or texture and finishing techniques.

The item needs to be delivered to Federation House in Birmingham by October 31st 2018

A winners feature on the NAJ’s much visited website

Winners biography and company information alongside an image will be posted on both the BATF and NAJ websites prior to the 11th November.

A strong social media campaign will be programmed and delivered.

An editorial feature in the September issue of The Jeweller magazine highlighting the design journey and giving the story of the workmanship to create the piece.

All Trade Press will be informed. Select consumer press will be targeted.


  • The judges’ decision is final
  • Drawings or CAD files submitted with entries need to be uploaded print ready at 300pdi at 10cm x 10cm. Please note file can not exceed 7mg.
  • The organisers reserve the right to decline an entry without stating a reason.
  • The organisers cannot take responsibility for the late arrival of paper entries, loss in transit or damages on arrival.
  • The BATF will pay for professional photograph.
  • The winner must be prepared to make and sell their piece of silverware and drawings for the sum of £8,500 paid by the BATF
